Man has always wished to live forever. In all the action and
animation movies, we always see that the protagonist never dies, although he
goes through a series of accidents, injuries and hurdles. This idea basically
depicts man’s basic desire to live forever in this world. But in real life, we experience
that this is not practicable.
People do die when face similar situations as faced
by movie actors in the movies. This is because reality is totally different
than the imaginary world. We can imagine anything we want. There is no
limit. Movies are actually a depiction
of man’s imagination.
Millions of people came to this world since the birth of Adam.
Everyone went to hereafter once he completed the life cycle here in this world.
Man’s desire to live forever has always been there. He has been trying
different ways to increase his age. Then he started doing things he might be
remembered for, after his death. This was the way that became very successful
for this purpose.
In every age of history, there were some men who are still
remembered, not all of people of that age. The reason for this is that they did
something different, something unique and something great that has kept them
alive so far. This is the only way by which we, despite being mortal, can become
immortal beings in this world. We will be remembered for what we do in this
world when we are here.
Every one of us knows Shakespeare, though he lived in the 16th
century and we are living here in the 21st century. The reason for
his immortality is the work he did during his life time. He wrote dramas and
sonnets through which he depicted his society as well as his imagination. A
man’s imagination is always limited to the age he lives in. When we go through
his work, we come to know the details of life at that time. Thus his work helps
us a lot in understanding the life in the 16th century. And his work
can always be quoted as a reference. Because he was honest in his work, he
earned dignity and honor that remained here even after he died. He spent his
whole life writing and depicting his society through available media at that
time. This work of his earned him immortality. Though he is physically not
alive but his work will keep him alive in this world forever.
How we want to be remembered after our life, depends on what we
are doing in this life. If we are spending the life of a layman, no one will
even know if we existed, after we are gone. If we are doing something for
humanity in any way that would of course help us. All the famous scientists in
the world did a great job for humanity, by developing science to that great
level we have today. Everyone knows who invented the light bulb, who invented
electricity. We are all well aware of Wright brothers who put their efforts in
inventing the aero plane. The information is available about them because they
have become immortal by dedicating their lives to a purpose that was good to
humanity.
Talking about today’s world, we all know about Bill Gates, Steve
Jobs, Larry Page, Warren Buffett and the list is not small. Bill Gates
revolutionized the computer world. The latest cellphone owes a lot to Steve
Jobs. Google came into being only because Larry Page was there for it. Warren
Buffett did much for humanity. Their work became the reason for their
immortality. They will always be remembered for what they have done for
humanity. This is not all and the list goes on and on. It always keeps on
adding more people.
The choice is yours whether you want to be immortal through your
deeds or die without someone knowing you. For this, the simple rule is that you
need to do something for humanity, something positive that can be remembered. Nothing
is done at once. You need to take small steps to establish something big.
Steadiness is the key to success in this path.
One
of the many reasons for people to start their blogs is the same. They want to
share their knowledge and personal experience, just to help others, to make
this world a better place to live. I believe those working with this objective have
already set foot on that path, though they might not have expressed it explicitly.
