What I learnt from 'Gravity'

What I learnt from Gravity
‘Gravity’ is a great British–American science fiction thriller and space drama movie. It was directed, co-written, co-produced and co-edited by Alfonso Cuarón, and stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney as astronauts involved in the mid-orbit destruction of a space shuttle and their effort to return to Earth.
I was amazed to watch this movie. This is indeed a great movie to learn a lot from.  The vastness of outer space is shown along with the importance of earth for us humans. Here are a few lessons that I learnt from this movie.

Gravitational pull is a blessing
While being on earth, we seldom realize the importance of our own weight i.e. gravitational pull of the earth because it becomes quite common in use. We only notice it when we do not have it i.e. in the outer space when it weakens as we move away from the earth. In the absence of this force, life is horrible as is shown in this movie. Therefore, Gravity is one of the numerous blessing by our creator that we seldom realize.

Earth is a safer place for us in this universe
We usually acknowledge the importance of something when we do not have it. Gravity has shown the importance of our weight on earth. As we do not go through any experience of weightlessness on earth, we seldom realize that it is something that is very necessary and helpful in our lives. While there in outer space, the movie has splendidly explained the weightlessness condition and how it affects our activities.

Man is a minute dot in this vast universe
While viewing from above in the sky, this earth is a small planet like other planets. There are much bigger planets in this universe as compared to earth. On this planet, we humans are quite smaller objects in the whole universe. Still we feel pride in our strengths and abilities and consider ourselves superior to those under our authority, though our existence is quite small and minute in comparison to those huge forces of the universe.

Man is a very fragile creation
Man is quite fragile in the universe and can easily be eradicated by other forces of nature. Still he does not understand and does evil to other human beings those are below him in power and authority. Nature can remove any individual from the face of the earth at any time quite easily.

Man is a social animal
Loneliness is one of the hardest punishments. In jails, serious culprits are kept in solitary cells to increase their suffering. Solitary life is very painful and monotonous. When out there in the space, man realizes the importance of other individuals in his life. Man is social in nature and cannot live alone for longer periods of life.

This is not a review of the movie but the feeling I got while watching it. I would recommend everyone to watch ‘Gravity’ at least once. This is indeed a wonderful experience.
